Cricket Updates - 2019 Skippers, TVL Rule Proposals, Xmas Party

29 Oct 2018

Dear All

A few points to update everyone on.

1. Captains for 2019

We have been in the unusual situation of looking to appoint 4 new skippers for 2019 and I am delighted to say that we have had 4 excellent candidates put themselves forward as follows:

  • 1st team - Matt Rance - with experience of skippering Bucks and having come up through the Chesham Colts System,Matt is the perfect person to take over from Jason and further build upon the successes of the last few seasons.
  • 2nd Team - Alex Watson - another product of the Juniors, Alex has been one of the most committed players to Chesham over the last few seasons, barely missing either a game or a training session. He will be an excellent candidate to take the 2nd team back up a division and lead by example through hard work and commitment
  • 3rd team - Philip John - also from the Colts, Philip is a hugely popular member of the 3rd Team who will be an ideal skipper of a team which will be a blend of youngsters alongside some more mature players
  • 4th Team - David Haines - an experienced cricketer and the parent of one of our Current Junior Members, David will be an ideal skipper to help bring through our Juniors into Senior Cricket and add some experience himself to what tends to be a very young side.

The club owes a massive thank you to our retiring skippers, Jason Rance, Chris Royals, Mark Hall and James Misseldine all of whom contributed massively in their roles and i know all are very keen to continue to contribute both as players and also in support of the new skippers.

2. TVL Rule Changes

There are a number of changes proposed, the most significant of which is to enforce the use of two new balls in all matches. The document in full is attached and i will vote according to members responses. Thus please read the attached and then you can answer a survey i will send out on survey monkey (assuming i can master the technology!) and decide whether or not these changes should be voted for by Chesham.

3. Xmas Party

A reminder this is on Friday 21st December - please put in your diaries!

Kind regards,

Paul
