Old Albanians v Chesham Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI on Sun 28 Jul 2013 at 13:30
Chesham Cricket Club Won by 155 runs

Match report For many years the Sunday 2s, and particularly their bowlers, have suffered at the the hands of merciless overseas pros far too good for the standard of cricket they are playing. Today, packback. When Nemi came to the crease after Karan ran himself out the sky turned black due to the sheer volume of sixes he was smashing to all parts of one of England's oldest cities. There was little of a 'good, then we'll fight in the shade' attitude from our hosts (nobody's blaming them - we've done the same) and a wide variety of Chesham batsmen tucked into cheeky 20s or 30s before bottling the 50 massively. Nemi departed run out (by Tom Free more than the fielder) for 81, giving James White plenty of time to make a score in excess of 0.
Tea, like the last time we played at OAs, proved to be divisive and appalling value for money, after which we looked to defend 260.
We probably could have guessed that the chase wasn't looking all too convincing when Alex 'he bowls to the left' Watson took a wicket in the first over of the innings. Tom Free kept things tight at the other end before Alex 'he bowls to the right' actually bounced someone out, no doubt something he'll never forget. Charles Turner, relieved of the keeping gloves, took a rare opportunity to bowl with aplomb, taking 3-10 before being taken out of the attack to give others a go. The hungover skipper, fielding disgracefully, bowled an average protecting two overs, taking two wickets before, much like the Misty Moon Saturday night, he left early.
The OAs lower order fell victim to all sorts of unlikely characters as the cricket got worse and worse. By the time Matt Watson took his first league wicket since 2006 it had all become a bit disgraceful. As Marshal Bosquet said on seeing the Charge of the Light Brigade unfold - "C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre" - It is magnificent but it is not war.
We enter August in the promotion places and a few wins will see us to the promised land - Division 5 of the Chess Valley League. Ed was so excited he nearly got arrested tonight.
