Future Cricket facilities
You may be aware that Chiltern and South Bucks are re-working their Local Plan. In short this sets out the vision and environment within which any new facilities can be built. All submissions under the previous Local Plan need to be reworked, including the Hervines Park site you may recall from about 1 year ago.
Over the past year I have been working with a group to formulate a proposal that includes a proper Indoor Cricket Centre for the benefit of all cricket clubs in Buckinghamshire. This new proposal effectively replaces the Hervines Park proposal.
It is no exaggeration to say this is a once in a generation opportunity for an Indoor Cricket Centre to be located in the area. Once complete the re-worked Local Plan will be in force until 2036 – some 20 years from now!
How can I help?
To move forwards we need to demonstrate there is sufficient demand in the area (again!). To that end we need everyone to spend just 10 minutes to complete the Local Plan Response Form. Once complete this form can simply be emailed to the Council.
Please also feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested.
Who can help?
Every individual can have their say, including Junior members of the club. If more than one member of you household wishes to support the proposal please ensure each member completes a separate response form.
What should I put in Part B of the form?
You are free to put any comments you like on the Response Form. If you wish to support the Indoor Cricket Centre proposal we suggest you include a comment along the lines of
"I wish to register my support for the proposed cricket facility located at Betjeman Park, Amersham HP6 6JQ"
Where has the name come from?
The proposed site does not have a precise name or postcode. To ensure all parties are referencing the same facility we are using the working name of Betjeman Park and the nearest postcode.
Where can I find more information?
The attached ‘Betjeman Park Presentation.pdf’ provides an overview of the proposal including maps to show its location and surrounding environment. It should be stressed we are only at the Concept stage so do not have ‘all the answers’. However if you do have questions please feel free to contact myself and I will do my best to answer them.
