Chesham 1st X1 maintained their excellent start to the season and top TVL Div1 by beating fellow title contenders Kew by 4 wickets. Invited to bat by Chesham skipper Jason Rance, Kew soon found themselves struggling against the pace and hostility of Gift Kwatsha (6 for 23 ) and slumped to 74 for 7. Jack Mciver weighed in with a wicket and then the consistent Pip Franc (3 for 18 cleaned up the tail with another miserly spell of controlled left hand spin. The final total of 125 in 39 overs seemed inadequate and this proved to be the case as Chesham chased this down for the loss of 6 wickets. After the early loss of Mark Eteen and brothers Matt and Jason Rance, Luke Webb (29), partnered first by Andy Goddard (18) and then a belligerent Kwatsha (34) to 118 before he also fell, leaving Mciver and France to finish off the game with 18 overs to spare..
A remarkable game at the Meadow saw Cheskam 2nds emerge victorious in Div 2a over Kidmore End 1sts by 26 runs. Chesham were inserted and on an apparently blameless pitch found themselves bowled out in a mere 26 overs for a paltry 87, mainly due to seamer James Frost ( 5 for 36) . Top scorers were extras 20 and Chris Royals an invaluable 19 not out. To their credit, Chesham’s heads remained high and Kidmore wickets fell at regular intervals to Peter Clifford (4 for 19 in 18 overs) and Royals (3 for 23) as they crawled to 38 for 7 in 34 overs. Alex Watson (3 for 9) then finished off the innings with the total having reached only 61 after 48 overs of attritional cricket.
Chesham 3rds enjoyed their first win of the season in Div 4a in beating Teddington Town by 82 runs. Chesham’s total of 257 for 87 dec owed much to A Naik (78) and R Shylendrs (59*). The final Teddington wicket at 182 fell to Steve Ayres (4 for 17) off the penultimate ball of the final over after Mo Asuaf had earlier taken 4 for 61.
