On Saturday Chesham had a day to forget at The Meadow with the top of the table clash against Buckingham. Chesham Won the toss and elected to bat. Chesham were in all sorts of trouble when Matt Rance was adjudged to be caught behind. It didn’t get much better when all top 4 batsmen were in the pavilion with the score on 12.
But a 92 run partnership between Robin Pritchard 46 and Andy Goddard 40 took the score to some respectability and a late flourish from Nouman Aslam, 17, took the score to 151 All Out. Buckingham Spinner Rory Lyon took 4-29.
Chesham knew they had to take early wickets and got the start they wanted when Matt Rance dismissed one opener and Matthew Warner dismissed the other opener. Buckingham were in trouble with the score on 0 for the loss of 2 wickets.
Jonathan Cater batted brilliantly for 92 and gave Buckingham the win by 6 wickets. Chesham’s best Bowler was Matt Rance 2-39.
In Division 2A Chesham travelled to Kew. Chesham won the toss and elected to field first. Kew scored 234/9 from 52 overs with Chris Royals taking 4-55 and David Hughes-D’Aeth 3-38. Chesham were bowled out for 174 in 41 overs with Alex Watson top scored with 43 Chesham losing the game by 60 runs.
In Division 5A Chesham 3s were involved in a high scoring draw. Kew won the toss and elected to bat and amassed 358 for 4 in 45 overs. Chesham got the draw and finished on 272/3 off 55 overs with Mark Newsome smashing 101 and Jamie Anderson 84.
In Division 8B Chesham travelled to Kew. Kew won the toss and elected to bat Kew scored 188 for 9 off 40 overs with youngster Matt Clifford taking 3-39. Chesham were then bowled out for 165 in 35.1 overs with George Holden top scoreing with 61, Chesham losing the game by 23 runs.
At the halfway stage of the season Chesham teams find themselves placed as follows First Team (3rd) Second team (9th) Third Team (10th) and Fourth Team (10th) – a big second half of the season to follow for the club.
