Weekend 21 July 2018
Chesham travelled to Burnham on Saturday on a warm, muggy day. Chesham won the toss and elected to Bat. A difficult pitch to bat on early but soon flattened out with runs for skipper Jason Rance 81,Alex Morgan 61 ably supported at the end with an 57 run partnership between Andy Goddard (24*) and Josh Drague (33*) which enabled Chesham to declare 3 overs from the end with the score on 259 for 5.
If Chesham thought the pitch was going to turn it wasn’t and in fact it did the opposite - it flattened out and not helped by Chesham not bowling very well, Burnham found runs at ease and the only bowlers to find success was Asad Rehman (3-72) and Matt Warner (2-46) with good spells of bowling from Samiullah Sajid (0-17) and Nouman Aslam (0-34). Chesham lost the game by 5 wickets.
In Divison 2A Chesham 2s hosted Kidmore End Chesham won the toss and batted first and scored 302 for 7 off 52 overs with Todd Bamber scoring 79. Kidmore End shut up shop with the score at 195 for 8 off 48 overs with youngster Keshav Chandrasekar taking 3-53.
In Divison 5A Chesham 3s hosted Maidenhead & Bray 2 Maidenhead and Bray won the toss and batted first and scored 251 for 9 off 52 overs with evergreen bowler Matt Watson taking 3-55. Chesham were bowled out for 184 in 44 overs with Ben Marote scoring 48 Chesham lost the game by 67 Runs
In Division 8B Chesham 4s travelled to Beaconsfield 3s Chesham won the toss and elect to bat first and Chesham scored 153 in 36.3 overs and Beaconsfield scored 158 for 4 in 28.1 overs. Beaconsfield won the game by 6 wickets.
Weekend 14th July
On Saturday Chesham Hosted bottom side Shipton Under Wychwood. Shipton won the toss and elected to bat first. Excellent spells of bowling from Matt Warner (3- 25) and a return from Ash Turney who has returned after a 3 year absence (1-30) put Shipton in trouble. There was no let up once Matt Rance came into the attack and took (4-1) off 5 overs and was backed up by some good pace bowling from Samiuallah Sajid (2-44).
Shipton were eventually bowled out for 114 with the number 11 Shaun Miller scoring 18 off 15 balls.
Chesham came out of the blocks quickly with an quick fire 38 first wicket partnership when Matt Rance was first out for 14 and Alex Morgan was the next wicket to fall 36 runs later, which brought Matt Warner (40*) and Jason Rance (27*) together to see seal the win for Chesham by 8 wickets.
In division 2A Chesham 2s travelled to Eversley. Eversley won the toss and elected to bat and amassed 332 for 5 in 45 overs, and Chesham were bowled out for 137 in 33 overs with Todd Bamber scoring 30 with Chesham losing the game by 195 runs.
In Division 5A Chesham 3s travelled to Ickenham. Ickenham won the toss and elected to field. They bowled Chesham out for a respectable 196 in 49 overs with Luke Dawson scoring 58. Ickenham chased the target down with 3 wickets down scoring 197 inside 25 overs Chesham losing the game by 7 wickets.
In division 8B Chesham 4s hosted Hayes. Hayes won the toss and elected to bat and amassed 296 for 1 in 40 overs and Chesham were bowled out for 229 in 39.2 overs with Muddasar Hussain scoring 100 and Finn Henry scoring 30 Chesham losing the game by 67 runs.
Weekend 7th July
On Saturday Chesham travelled to Wokingham. Chesham won the toss and elected to Bat and from the off batted really well with the batting built around a brilliant 90 from Matthew Warner and 57 from Jason Rance, well supported by Robin Pritchard 27, Andy Goddard 30* and Josh Drage on Debut scored 33*. Chesham at one stage looked at getting 320 plus but settled on 291 for 5 in 58 overs.
Wokingham came out of the blocks quickly with an opening partnership of 38 and Wokingham top order did all they could to try and chase the runs. Chesham took wickets at regular Intervals with Matt Rance taking 4-60 pegging Wokingham back to 229 for 8 off 53 overs and with the Match Drawn Chesham picked up 15 points.
In division 2A Chesham 2s were involved in a high scoring draw against Maidenhead & Bray. Maidenhead won the toss and invited Chesham to bat - a decision that backfired when Chesham amassed 297 for 6 off 52 overs with Jamie Anderson scoring 109, Mark Hughes-D’aeth 68 & Henry White 66. In reply Maidenhead and Bray shut up shop with the score on 196 for 9 with Chris Royals 4-56 and Alex Goodman 3-16
In Division 5A Chesham 3s were soundly beaten by Stoke Green. Stoke Green won the toss and chose to bat scoring 301 for 7 inside 40 overs. They then bowled Chesham out for 140 to give Stoke Green victory by 161 runs.
In Division 8B Chesham 4s were beaten by Marlow Park. Chesham won the toss and chose to bat and were skittled out for 73 and In reply Marlow Park chased the target down inside 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets to give Marlow Park Victory by 8 wickets.
On Sunday the women’s team beat Flitwick by 6 Wickets. Glorious 30 degree heat and only a smattering of clouds in the sky phased no one, with another win for Chesham’s women’s team. Captain Tracy Sturges won the toss and chose to bowl, proving to be a successful choice, with Flitwick being bowled out for a total of 82 runs. A standard bowling performance from Lorett Bredenkamp getting a cracking 5–13, and excellent bowling from Jess Holdship with good figures of 2–18 , while demonstrating true sportsmanship. This wonderful bowling performance was backed up by steady batting with key runs scored by Alice Burgham, getting a total of 18, and Sue Holdship getting a useful 16. Special mention to Lara Daruka who, on her debut, got a key wicket and important runs (not out) to finish the game.
