Dear all,
As we are all
aware, the country is in the midst of a shutdown due to coronavirus and the
Cricket Club is no exception. All activities for all sections of the club are
postponed indefinitely, and we have no knowledge of when or even if we will get
out and play this season.
This is clearly
very disappointing for all of us, given how long the winter has been and how
hard our volunteers have been working. Like with nearly all organisations at
the moment clearly there are financial concerns that arise from this situation.
Thanks to the hard work and foresight of our volunteers, and the generosity of
the ECB in deferring loan repayments, we are confident that Chesham CC will
come out the other side of this crisis in a relatively decent position.
Nevertheless, the support of our members continues to be the basis for our
operations.
We have had a
number of questions on this subject, and whilst I love the enthusiasm we must
be clear - the Club is closed until the restrictions are limited. To reiterate,
you must not attempt to use the nets or any other Club facilities during
this lockdown, with no exceptions.
The Club is well
placed to weather this crisis and we are hopeful we will still get some cricket
this season, but until then stay at home and stay safe. We can't wait to see
you on the other side!
I will write out
separately in due course with a call for volunteers to do particular tasks that
can be undertaken whilst socially distancing.
Kind regards
Jonathan Royals
