Tomorrow at 4AM, I will be beginning the toughest physical challenge of my life so far by taking part in the annual 4 x 4 x 48 David Goggins Challenge. Initially, I was doing this as part of the Taylor Wimpey challenge to try and raise £1000 for the Youth Adventure Trust. However, in light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, I feel passionately about taking this opportunity to raise money for the true victims of war, the children. We must not forget that globally, in countries such as Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan and across much of Central Africa, the impacts of war are also devastating the futures of young children. Therefore, I will be raising money from this challenge for War Child who look to educate, feed, relocate, and help children in war torn countries across the planet. If you would like to see more of what they do, please visit their website.
The 4x4x48 challenge involves running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. I will begin the challenge at 4am on Thursday 3rd March and run my last leg at Midnight on Friday night. I have no idea how I will cope with the fatigue, both mentally and physically, with the longest I have run so far being a half marathon. However, I want to push myself to the limit, so I am aiming at completing all 48 miles combined in a time of between 6 and 7 hours. Whether I achieve this is another matter, but I will do everything I can to do so. Hopefully my recent plantar fasciitis doesn’t come back to haunt me and I stay injury free but no matter what I will make sure I get over the line.
If you would like to track my progress, then I will be updating you all on Instagram, Facebook and Strava. If anyone would like to accompany on any of my 4 miles it would be much appreciated, as would any donation to the cause, no matter how big or how small. Hopefully this will help to inspire me when waking up at 4 am to complete another 4-mile run.
I am looking forward to pushing myself to the limit to help a great cause and donations to the Youth Adventure Trust or to War Child can be made from the links below and in my bio.
