Chesham Cricket Club Sunday 2nd XI v Uxbridge 2nd XI on Sun 11 Aug 2013 at 13:30
Chesham Cricket Club Won by 79 runs

Match report Well you never know what you're going to get from the Sunday 2s when you turn up on a Sunday afternoon. Sunday we returned to form with a crushing victory over Uxbridge, and it seems that this season we are showing little consistency and are becoming as mercurial as the great French rugby teams of old. From the moment that Chris 'Castaignède' Royals dominated a touch rugby warm up with 3 unbelievable tries and enough noise that most didn't realise that it was actually Jamie Anderson who was the rugby player among us, and then went out and won the toss, it seemed that it was going to be our day.
This trend continued when MHD hit the first over for 13 and after 5 overs we were 50-0. Matt Watson, pulling rank to get more of a bat, then nicked off for 13, giving him plenty of time to work on his chat for the second innings. Through this period the main highlight was the hilarious chat of debutante Ollie McKinlay, who impressed the 'senior pros' and frustrated all others, particularly his brother with a never ending stream of conversation.
The carnage continued as MHD played one of his best innings ever and DHD began to like facing the Uxbridge spinners, however Mark was cruelly bowled on 98 at which point Ben Woodward nearly wet himself with laughter. DHD made it two family bottle jobs in a day when he holed out for 46 which set the stage for a display of ferocious hitting in the last ten overs, Tom Free hitting 31 off 14 balls and Chris Royals taking just 19 balls to reach 43. At the other end Ben Woodward compiled a fast, albeit exhausting 20 not out, the highlight of which was Woodward and Royals running four on a ball that never left the square!
281 never looked like a total that would be seriously challenged by the visitors after a superb Goodman-Anderson joint effort at tea and the Uxbridge openers confirmed the winner of this tie by blocking the cover off the ball for the first 10 overs. The wickets fell gradually and were nicely spread around the bowlers before, with the game well and truly dead, the ball was handed to Woodward. He genuinely ripped a couple but the stock ball was a slow long hop that got dispatched, even if Sam Rance nearly gave him a rare wicket with a superb piece of boundary fielding. Uxbridge were eventually bowled out off the last ball of the game, giving Ollie McKinlay a deserved 3fer.
Though our inconsistency means promotion is still a way off, we're keeping ourselves in the reckoning and having a great time doing so. Next up the long trip to Alexandra Park, set your alarms chaps.
