Match report The season got underway with a convincing win over Ickenham.
With Skipper Watson otherwise occupied, Chris Royals took the captain's armband and as his first act had to convince the skipper's Dad that there were easier ways to enter Ickenham's ground than scaling a barbed wire fence. So we had 11.
It is always important to set the tone for the season from the start, and ours started with a difference of opinion between Pete and Santosh as to whether there was a run to the keeper. End result was Santosh being run out without facing in the first over and having 39 overs to face time Matt Clifford to complain about his Dad's running. From there things perked up pretty significantly, debutant Ranvir Sinha was good value for his 71 and was well supported by Pete and David. Probably the highlight of the innings was Seb's attempt at a 20 ball 50, slowed down only by losing balls in nearby houses. Brendan brought up a deserved 50 with little time to spare and we finished on 250ish.
Ickenham never looked in too much danger of chasing it down. Charlie Haines did the bulk of the damage with a fourfer that owed a lot to bowling straight, simple game really. Shout out to our other debutant Greg for a particularly enthusiastic celebration of a long hop wicket. Santosh received a pity bowl to attempt to relieve him of one of the greatest TFCs of all time and managed to get himself taken out the attack within three overs for bowling beamers, leaving himself as the clubhouse leader for the most fineable performance of the season.
Ickenham all out for 140ish and a comfortable win with time to spare.

Overall a good day out, everyone was good value and got a decent run out. My thanks to everyone who answered the call at reasonably short notice.

As an aside - 12 start, match done, 2 pints at Ickenham and back at the Club to hear about 16 wickets and a smashed windscreen by 6:30. Remind me again why we just voted down early starts...
